Wahab Pervis is a Business Architect Manager at Dr Oetker, a global food manufacturer specializing in products such as frozen pizzas, cake mixes and desserts. Though primarily based in Germany, Dr. Oetker has operations in 40 countries around the world. The company became a JAGGAER user organization in November 2022, rolling out several modules early in 2023.
“JAGGAER is now our key long-term strategic partner in terms of laying the basis for digital transformation at Dr Oetker, focusing on direct as well as indirect spend. The great challenge we face is global uncertainty and primarily the changing environment. It’s a challenge for every industry but the food industry is also very restrictive. Within Dr Oetker the key challenge is one of change, with digital transformation bringing in new tools. JAGGAER is supporting us to ensure that the solutions work, but in addition there are people development and change management issues,” Pervis says.
He continues: “Artificial intelligence is enabling us to get rid of more manual tasks, increasing productivity in our daily activities, but it is also helping us to become more predictive and agile with quicker access to data and less time spent on calculations.”
Tools like JAGGAER can also reduce the effort needed for training by leveraging artificial intelligence for better communication and collaboration, Pervis argues.
“An example is category management, where you need to ask, ‘what kind of strategy do I need to apply in this category?’ AI can leverage data from different sources to make recommendations for various scenarios, which are an aid to negotiation and could be applied to devising your buying strategy. AI reduces the time needed to define the strategy, so we can focus more time on what we believe to be the right solution,” Pervis says.
He concludes: “One of the big benefits we are seeing is that by leveraging analytics through the combination of AI and humans we can become more productive in our department and across the organization.”
