Technology must serve people, not the other way around. This is why we continue to give the utmost value to the human team in the Procurement department, the true inspiration for this entire process. Their experience, commitment, and intuition are essential in decision-making.

Challenge
Since it began operations in Spain in November 2022, iryo’s procurement department identified the need to implement an agile, efficient, and digitized system to optimize purchasing management. The goal was to eliminate inefficient manual tasks and significantly reduce management times throughout the purchasing cycle, moving toward a more modern model aligned with current sector challenges.
Solution
Seeking a technological solution to address these technical, ethical, and sustainability challenges, iryo selected the JAGGAER solution in November 2022. This evolution moved its procurement and supplier negotiation processes from manual operations to 4.0 and 5.0 digitalization, following a two-phase plan and several transversal improvement projects.
In the first stage, a supplier module was developed to provide a complete overview of data and performance, which helped improve compliance standards in areas such as transparency, human rights, and the environment throughout the value chain. Likewise, the e-Sourcing module was implemented—a key technology tool in the pre-purchase phase—which enables better prices and conditions, risk reduction, increased transparency, optimized efficiency, and strengthened strategic decision-making in procurement processes.
In the second phase, full digitalization of procurement processes is achieved, covering the entire P2P cycle, including contracts: repository, templates, management and negotiation on platform, and electronic signature management, all under the company’s control.
During 2026, iryo will seek certification under UNE 15896 for value-added procurement management and ISO 20400 for sustainable procurement. While the former is a complete procurement management model that improves the efficiency of all processes, the latter is an exceptional tool for boosting sustainability in the supply chain. The company is also initiating integration with the SAP system it is currently implementing.
Results
In two years, iryo has managed to digitize the entire procurement process, gaining visibility into all its suppliers and control over negotiations and awards made only to qualified suppliers, thus minimizing risks.
Since embarking on its digitalization project with JAGGAER, tenders and purchases managed and tracked with this technology have increased by almost 100%.
Furthermore, the ROI on management time savings already exceeds 210%, while off-process purchases (“back the door”) have dropped to zero as of September 2025. Additionally, a “robust” supplier system has been established.
Additionally, shifting from traditional procurement methodology to an advanced Sourcing platform yields the following benefits:
An important fact: implementing a digitalized procurement system has brought the company an estimated savings of 3.4 million euros. However, iryo’s procurement department goes further, convinced that advances in Artificial Intelligence will allow for easier, simpler, and more secure understanding of each user. Predictive data analysis will enable real-time strategy changes, eliminate repetitive tasks, and provide more time for building partner relationships.
