    The University

The University of North Texas System (UNT System) is a public university system headquartered in Dallas, Texas. It is the administrative overseer of four autonomous Texas institutions of higher learning: the University of North Texas, a research institution based in Denton; the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth; the University of North Texas at Dallas in South and Downtown Dallas; and the latest campus, UNT at Frisco.

    The challenge

“As a public university system, our procurement function has to follow all the State laws and regulations in ensuring that purchases are in place to enable faculty and departments to pursue UNT’s mission,” says McCauley. “To do this efficiently, we needed to get away from the manual processes of the past.” McCauley’s team also wanted to end its reliance on periodic reports on its spend from the IT department, getting direct access to the figures for more effective and transparent spend management.

    The solution

UNT System is implementing several JAGGAER modules. JAGGAER Contracts and JAGGAER Sourcing were already up and running in 2022. “In the past, sourcing was very manual, with vendors literally dropping off packages to the building by hand. We have succeeded in streamlining many workflows and introducing electronic submissions, which meant we could do away with manual processes and communication via email, for greater efficiency. Our vision is to be as transparent as possible for our suppliers and vendors, as well as our business partners across the four institutions, so they can see the status of their purchases,” says McCauley.

    Some advice

McCauley views the flexibility of JAGGAER as a great asset to UNT System. “Knowing what I know now I would advise other institutions to invest in JAGGAER by building solutions around what they want in future rather than what they have now,” she says.
