RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – January 23, 2018  JAGGAER, the world’s largest independent spend management company, has created an ultra-efficient procurement process for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch), enabling more time to be spent on groundbreaking cancer research. For nearly a decade, Fred Hutch has used JAGGAER’s eProcurement solution to push 85% of spend under management, to reduce buyers on staff by 20%, and to increase the volume of grant revenue it handles by 8x.

“When we first approached JAGGAER in 2009, we had just broken ground on a new facility and planned to add two more within the next ten years. Our procurement process wasn’t sustainable, and we knew we needed a solution that would grow with us and would help alleviate the time-consuming processes that were detracting from valuable research time. JAGGAER’s eProcurement solution saves each of our investigators up to 90 minutes daily – time that used to be spent managing lab supplies can now be put toward the next cancer drug or immunotherapy breakthrough,” said Mark Burch, Director of Materials at Fred Hutch. “At Fred Hutch, we don’t work with just anybody. We seek partners who bring the same skills, focus, and energy on which we pride ourselves.”

JAGGAER has improved confidence within the labs at Fred Hutch. 72% of requisitions are converted to POs on the same day, with another 18% that go through the next day. Items are received in one-third of the original time – on average one to three days. The quick turnaround time allows scientists to operate closer to a “just-in-time” process, and not have to stockpile materials. In addition to time saved, this reduction in inventory costs has been the leading cost-saver for Fred Hutch.

“Cost savings is always an important factor to our customers, but for research centers like Fred Hutch, time savings is one of the most valuable assets. Digitalizing and automating outdated, manual procurement processes with our solutions has enabled hundreds of life science organizations across the world to dedicate more time to their core mission,” said Robert Bonavito, CEO of JAGGAER.
